Meet Wayne & Kelli

Kelli and Wayne Wilhelm are the quintessential couple behind At The Helm. They met in High School and have spent more than half their lives married to each other. They  have shared the past 30 years of their lives together building a home, raising a family, working in ministry and working to bring about important social, political and cultural changes in their community through social activism.

Kelli and Wayne share a common desire to encourage, empower, enlighten and entertain their friends, family and community.  They are excited about sharing their experiences with parenting, work/life balance, Racial Equity and community activism on their podcast, YouTube Channel and TikTok accounts.

Wayne is a graduate of Apex School of Theology where he earned both his Bachelors Degree in Theology and his Masters Degree in Divinity.  He currently Pastors a loving congregation in Durham, NC where they are committed to loving all of God’s children and building His Kingdom. Wayne also works full time for a growing town in Wake County, NC.

Kelli is a graduate of the absolute greatest university in the world, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she majored in Psychology and minored in African, African American and Diaspora Studies. She currently works full time for a county government agency and is a recent first time author on a collaboration project with fellow breast cancer survivors.

Kelli and Wayne know firsthand how challenging it is to find an acceptable work, ministry, activism, and home life balance. They want to share their perspective on what worked, and/or maybe didn’t work, for them, in the hopes of encouraging others to be "At The Helm" of their own lives and #BeInControl of their own destiny.
